We’ve been having probems with the Big Red Taiko Van. It’s an intermittent electrical problem that causes random ignition coils to misfire or read as if they are misfiring. Ultimately that means the engine runs quite roughly on occasion, and if it gets driven too far while acting up we could thrash the catalytic converter.
It’s been to 3 very trustworthy mechanics and one very reliable electrical shop, all of whom have done their darnedest to try to resolve the problem.
In trying to give the electrical shop a few extra hours to pin down the problem I ended up 12 hours behind schedule.
Then, just past Battle Mountain, NV…and before mile marker 235…the van lost a tire tread (right passeenger). Nope. Not retreaded tires.
It went very wel all things considered. The whole tire didn’t blow. I made it to the side of the road. I had road flares…and so on.
Took the AAA guy a chunk of time to get to it and change it.
In Moab now getting new tires, an alignment job and trying to rest up.
whooh!
